BLUE-WHITE GAME PREVIEW | PENN STATE VS. HOUSTON Nittany Lions need to remake their entire starting secondary. "We don't have enough players over there," O'Brien said. "We wanted to make a move that made sense." The team's other Wildcat quarter- back, Bill Belton, is also changing positions. The 5-foot-10, 196-pound sophomore is going from his previ- ous full-time spot – wide receiver – to running back, a position for which he is better suited physically, O'Brien said. In addition, redshirt sophomore Dakota Royer is now at tight end after starting his career as a linebacker. 3. Who's getting healthy this spring? Garry Gilliam, for one. And none too soon. The Nittany Lions' new of- fense is expected to feature the tight end prominently, and Gilliam has the size (6-6, 277 pounds) and ath- letic ability to be a major factor this fall. Gilliam missed out on spring practice last season after experienc- ing several setbacks in his recovery from a 2010 injury that left him with two torn ligaments in his left knee. But he's been working out this spring (with a protective brace on his knee) and said recently he's been feeling as good as new. Also back after recovering from re- constructive knee surgery is defen- sive end Pete Massaro. It's been a year since the senior went down with a torn ACL in practice, and ex- pectations are high, especially with the Nittany Lions seeking a starter at Jack Crawford's vacated position. At the start of spring practice, O'Brien seemed happy with Mas- saro's physical condition. "Pete is a hard-working guy. He's a typical Penn State guy to me," the coach said. "He's what we're all about." Linebacker Michael Mauti isn't participating fully in spring drills as he works his way back from ACL surgery last fall. But O'Brien said he expects the senior to be ready to play come September. 4. Anyone else back?
