QUESTIONS FROM PAGE 20 commentary was one of the true highlights of the afternoon. Meanwhile, starters had fun run- ning the occasional gimmick play before giving way to a succession of walk-ons and redshirt freshmen in the second half, if not before. When officials stopped last year's Blue- White Game early due to heavy rain, players took turns diving onto the turf and skidding into the tun- nel on their way out of the stadium. Don't expect to see that this year. 8. Who's going to be the star of the Blue-White Game? This title is usually bestowed on someone you don't expect – an up- and-comer or a walk-on who craves the chance to play before an audi- ence and seizes the opportunity to display his skills. Could happen again. With Dukes out, Lynch yet to arrive on campus and the coaching staff already well aware of what it's got in Redd, Belton and Day are likely to get more than a few carries on Saturday. Still, all eyes are going to be on the quarterbacks as they look to adapt to O'Brien's new offensive system, which is modeled after the offense he ran with the New England Patriots. McGloin was the most successful of the QBs in the Nittany Lions' previous offense, so you can't help but assume he has a leg up on Bolden and Jones. But O'Brien went out of his way to avoid developing any preconceptions about his players going into spring practice, and his fresh-slate approach will likely give the other QBs a chance to make their case. The coaching staff is looking at this year's Blue-White Game as a significant part of the evaluation process, not just a chance for play- ers to blow off some steam heading into the summer, which means all the quarterbacks will have a strong incentive to play well. Everything we've seen so far would seem to indicate that McGloin has the edge, but as O'Brien noted in March, it's possible this battle won't be decided until late August, maybe even late late August. Stay tuned. 5557"#$ #$() +,(6 !
