best throw of the afternoon on her fifth attempt, posting a mark of 159 feet, 4 inches to overtake Loht for the overall lead. Loht waited for her final attempt, and the final throw of the competi- tion to turn in the day's best performance, throwing 160-11 for her first Big Ten title. WOMEN'S LACROSSE PSU falls to Gators in NCAA quarterfinal Penn State's season came to end in the NCAA championship with a 15-2 quarterfinal loss to No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Florida at the Gators' Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville. For the second time this sea- son, Penn State (12-7) faced Florida without its leading scor- er, as freshman Maggie McCormick was sidelined for the Elite Eight matchup. Freshman Haley Ford and sophomore Lizzy Carney accounted for the Nittany Lions' goals, while soph- omore Mackenzie Cyr, who missed the regular-season matchup with the Gators with an injury, registered Penn States's lone assist. Senior Dana Cahill made 13 saves in her final appearance. MEN'S LACROSSE in CAA semifinals Senior attackman Matthew Drexel tops PSU Mackrides topped 100 career goals, and junior midfielder Nick Dolik tallied a career-high four goals, but second-seeded Penn State suffered a season-ending 13-11 loss to No. 3 Drexel in the Colonial Athletic Assocation semifinals at Penn State Lacrosse Field. Mackrides' goals brought his career total to 101, making him only the fifth Nittany Lion to reach the century mark. The Newtown Square, Pa., native is tied for fourth place on the pro- gram's all-time list. OUTLOOK With Arcidiacono, Cadogan, Figueroa, Gress, Howle, Shrive and Urschel all being sen- iors in 2013, one might expect that O'Brien would want to recruit no fewer than six or seven offensive linemen. But that isn't the case. O'Brien has stated that 16 offensive line- men are far too many to have on the roster. So, expect Penn State to sign at most four linemen in 2013. The Lions are at least halfway to their goal already, having received commitments from Mahon and guard/tackle Andrew Nelson of Hershey, Pa. TOP PROSPECT Dorian Johnson of Belle Vernon, Pa. (Sample method: "Proof by Mumbo- Jumbo: 'For any epsilon> 0 there exists a corresponding delta > 0 s.t. f(x)-L < epsilon whenever x-a < delta.'" With two more years at Penn State, Urschel is excited about what the future holds, both for his foot- ball and academic careers. He's a goal-setter – "I set goals in every facet of my life" he said – but he prefers to keep his personal objec- tives private. As for the Lions, they would seem to be facing a math problem of sorts, given the subtraction of those four starting linemen. But Urschel has been doing some calculations of his own, and where some see problems, he sees solutions. "It takes time," he said. "[The coaches] threw a lot of new things at us. But over time, we started to get it and understand how everything worked. By the end of the spring, things were running pretty smoothly. I'm pretty confident that things will go well in the fall."
