NEWS & NOTES Bothered by a turf toe injury he suffered in practice leading up to the TicketCity Bowl, Still said he was forced to miss his first three weeks of training at Bommarito Performance Systems in Miami. The position drills he performed at the combine were his first since before the injury. "It was my first time doing drills since I was here at Penn State [before the bowl]," Still said. "And I only got to practice my 40 about a week before I went to the combine. So my toe got better after the com- bine, and I was able to practice more and more. I felt a little bit more fluid doing my drills and doing the 40 today." Still said he's hoping to be invited to watch the first day of the draft in person in New York, but he's uncer- tain where he'll end up or how high he's likely to go. "I'm hearing all over the place. I'm hearing top 10, top 15," he said. "It's very frustrating not knowing, but you can't control when that stuff happens. What you have to focus on is [making] as big an impact as you can. I'm not really worried about where I get drafted as much as I am about impacting a team." Still said he's been told he could FEELING A DRAFT Devon Still talks to reporters outside Holuba Hall after taking part in Penn State's Pro Day event. FOOTBALL Tim Owen play either the three- or five-tech- nique position, which would allow him to fit into either a 3-4 or 4-3 system. The sun was shining, the skies were blue and the temperatures were in the upper 60s. With an esti- mated 25 to 30 NFL scouts and A P R I L 1 1 , 2 0 1 2 coaches on hand, many seniors and a few returning graduates took part in Penn State's annual NFL Pro Day. Some were trying to increase their stock for the draft in April, while others were hoping to turn enough heads to earn an invitation to an NFL minicamp or simply get back into the game. The headliner in this year's Penn State draft class is defensive tackle Devon Still. Projected as a potential first-round choice, he went into the day hoping to improve his stock after what he considered a disap- pointing performance at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in late February. Johnnie Troutman said his agent has told him he's likely to land somewhere in the middle rounds of the draft. Weighing in at a robust 329 pounds, Troutman said he was pleased to have lowered his 40-yard time down to the high 5.3s. He did- n't bench press at Pro Day after putting up 31 reps at the combine. "I'll honestly just be happy to be drafted and happy to be on a team, wherever that is," Troutman said. "My main goal was to make a roster, not to get drafted." Tailback Stephfon Green was one of the few Nittany Lions who appeared to be disappointed with his performance at Pro Day. Looking as though he had added some weight, Green performed 17 reps on the bench press and had a 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump and a W W W . B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M
