Mike Miranda knew when he was
going to get there: January 2017.
Miranda, a talented o-cited draw-
backs, as players who enroll in January
have to make an abrupt transition to col-
lege life. But James Franklin prefers to
dwell on the positives.
"I think the early enrollees are great,"
said the Nittany Lions' head coach. "I
don't think there's any doubt that there's
value in these guys being on campus, tak-
ing college credits, getting adjusted aca-
demically, getting adjusted socially, and
then legitimately having a chance to
compete for a starting job in camp."
Franklin said that Penn State doesn't
try to exert any pressure on prospects
who may be thinking about enrolling
early. "You don't ever try to convince
guys that this is what they should do," he
said. "But if it's something that they
