"The type of football player they are is important, [because] obviously that's where it starts. But [also] the type of students they are, the type of people they are, the type of com- munities they come from, the families they come from, then ultimately the fit. "We've got a great locker room right now. Our chemistry and our culture are really good. We want to bring people who are going to come in and are going to complement that, are going to build on that. We feel really good about that." Given the opportunity to see the per- sonalities underneath the helmets and pads, I came away feeling grateful for my signing day experience – with or with- out the hoopla. ■ I think this is an exceptional class and I'm really excited to see what they can do. In my opinion, there are several who will get playing time this year, Ellis Brooks being one of them. Do you think we see some of these kids on special teams? I'm thinking maybe they see what Journey Brown can do at returning kicks. Hmmm, what can Brown do for you? Or Mac Hippenhammer returning punts? BBrown In my opinion, PSU has turned a MAJOR corner in their fight to get back to the top of college football. I think the sign of a struggling program is that they lose a few important recruits VERY late in the process when stronger programs go after and flip their kids. PSU has NOW become "that program" that goes after some real talented kids very, very late in the process and GETS THEM. In my opinion, it was MIND BOGGLING that PSU ended up signing Ellis Brooks, Corey Bolds and Tariq Castro-Fields in the last few days of the recruiting cycle. Those are some REALLY, REALLY great high schoolers with big-time potential at the college level. To me, that last minute rush by Coach Franklin and his staff was the most impressive part of putting the 2017 class together (along with getting Lamont Wade obviously). SJLuvsLions Beyond impressive signing day run. These coaches absolutely hustle. ... I recall the end of the JoePa days when only half the staff would recruit. Awe- some to see the staff put forth this kind of effort. Even when they don't land the recruit, everyone walks away impressed with the staff. Tokyo Lion This class not only finished strong, but was filled with very good talent at positions of need. It's fun to watch this program grow, and with the recruiting classes that we are getting and are projected to get, this is going to be a fun ride. bohucon With this staff and head coach, there's no reason why we won't be kicking in the door of the Rivals top ten recruiting rank going forward. Every year we are gaining momentum, and now that the team has proven they can win big on the field, I see the floodgates opening up. Brazillm10 I can think of only ONE guy who reneged down the stretch, and CJF and the boys replaced him with a BETTER player. They held on to guys like Hippenham- mer when Notre Dame swooped in. Picked up a DT at the last minute. Signed some outstanding prospects AND recruited for need at the same time. Already working on guys for next year. That is a helluva performance. Vacation time hard earned and well deserved, and see you for spring ball. Fox Chapel Lion II S I T E L I N E S B W I . R I V A L S . C O M R E A D E R S S O U N D O F F
