MARCH 2017 ■ 81 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Hamilton has 18 scholarship offers, in- cluding seven from the ACC. His older brother plays for Georgia Southern, and his father is a former DePaul player. Jaylen Hoard, junior power forward, High Point Wesleyan The slender 6-8, 200-pound Hoard is similar to Hamilton in some ways. The native of France arrived in the U.S. for his junior year, and is a gifted passer, handles the basketball well and could end up play- ing either forward position. He is most likely a power forward at this point in his development and needs to improve his out- side jumper. His father grew up in Chicago and played at Murray State, before embarking on an overseas playing career. His mother is from France and played at Washington. Hoard has at least seven scholarships, but NC State hadn't yet offered him. Hoard said he might bypass playing traveling- team ball in order to work out and play for France's U18 National Team this summer. Wendell Moore Jr., sophomore wing, Concord Cox Mill The 6-4, 190-pound Moore is young for his grade at 15 years old, but has been on the map since middle school. NC State offered him before he played his first high school game, and North Carolina eventually fol- lowed suit. Moore is up to nine scholarship offers after playing well at a USA Basket- ball mini-camp last October. Moore has played multiple positions for Cox Mill, including point guard. He has a great basketball IQ, is solid in the mid-range game and will need to improve his outside shooting for the college level. Josh Nickelberry, sophomore shooting guard, Fayetteville Trinity Christian The 6-4, 170-pound Nickelberry emerged as a freshman at Fayetteville Northwood Temple, and is ranked No. 58 in the country in the class of 2019 by Rivals.com. He then made the move to Trinity, where he played with Joey Baker and sophomore forward Greg Gantt. While NC State evaluated him, it never offered. He has earned 14 scholarship ten- ders, including five from ACC schools, with the most recent from North Carolina. Nickelberry played with Team Loaded NC 16s last year, but is expected to join the Georgia Stars in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Nickelberry is an ath- letic finisher is likely to grow into his body and has the potential to be a quality outside shooter.
