THE BIG PICTURE THE BIG PICTURE FROM EIGHT TO GREAT Eighth-seeded Michigan became the lowest seed to ever capture the Big Ten Basketball Tournament with four wins in four days, culminating with a 71-56 victory over Wisconsin March 12. The Wolverines had no shortage of obstacles to overcome, including a plane crash that prevented them from arriving in Washington, D.C., until just before their March 9 opening game against Illinois — the tip-off even had to be delayed 20 minutes due to the travel issues. However, U-M played like everything had gone according to plan, outscoring their four foes by an average of 11.5 points per game. PHOTO COURTESY MICHIGAN ATHLETIC MEDIA RELATIONS
