UVA HISTORY PHOTO BY MATT RILEY/COURTESY UVA "I remember the very first time I watched Malcolm play. I was convinced he could be special. I just knew if we were fortunate enough to get Malcolm to attend UVA he could lead our program to great heights and have a special career. I've never coached a player with the drive and dedication to be the best he could be quite like Malcolm. He also represented everything that is right about being a true student-athlete. What a model for making an impact on the court, in the classroom and the community. I couldn't be any happier than to see No. 15 raised to the rafters." — Men's basketball head coach Tony Bennett on MALCOLM BROGDON having his jersey number at Virginia retired Feb. 20; Brogdon, the eight Cavalier to have his number retired, finished his career ranked first in free throw percentage (87.6), second in games played (136), fifth in minutes played (4,157), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (36.5), seventh in three-pointers (185), and ninth in scoring (1,809 points) and free throws (422) "After careful thought and consideration, I have decided to stay at the University of Virginia and complete my fourth year. I am fully committed to coach Bronco Mendenhall, coach Nick Howell, and the entire coaching staff and the program they are building. I am committed to my teammates and want to help lead my team to a bowl game while at UVA." — Fourth-year safety Quin Blanding on returning to Charlottesville for the 2017 football season; the All-ACC pick finished seventh nationally with 120 stops last fall and enters 2017 with 358 stops, which leads all returning Football Bowl Subdivision players and ranks ninth in school history "Having the chance to open the college football season in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is a fantastic opportunity for our program. Players love to compete on the largest stage and Atlanta is a great location for our fans to spend the Labor Day weekend. I can- not imagine a better setting to open the season than to face Georgia in what I'm told will be one of the nation's finest stadiums." — Football head coach Bronco Mendenhall on the Sept. 7, 2020, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Virginia and Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which opens in 2017 HOO'S TALKING PHOTO BY MATT RILEY/COURTESY UVA
