Playing an extremely daunting confer- ence schedule, the Nittany Lions will likely have to turn in similar efforts in the coming weeks if they hope to vie for the Big Ten crown. A program with relatively little in the way of lacrosse history, Penn State has al- ways been an underdog compared to the likes of Johns Hopkins and Maryland, teams that claimed the first two Big Ten lacrosse titles. On April 8, the sixth- ranked Terrapins put an end to Penn State's win streak, overcoming O'Keefe's seventh hat trick of the year for a 15-11 victory in College Park, Md. The Nittany Lions were set to visit Johns Hopkins on April 15. Tambroni said he hasn't been surprised by the league's prowess. "We kind of had a feeling in the last couple years that the Big Ten was going to be one of the premier conferences," he said. "It's been exciting to watch the growth of the entire group really all at once this year." ■
