PIGGIN' OUT WITH THE PACK ■ WOLFPACK CLUB NEWS Pork Council evaluated each team on very specific criteria including: moisture, skin crispness and taste. Third place went to Howls and Jowls from Raleigh, second place was awarded to Pig Sexy from Garner and the 2012 BBQ Bowl winner was NC'que Competition BBQ Team from Wilson. The most anticipated part of the BBQ Bowl weekend occurred late Saturday morning with celebrity judging. This year's celebrity judges were Dr. Johnny Wynne (Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), and former Wolfpack foot- ball players Jonathon Redmond, Terrell Manning, and Audie Cole. All four judges tasted and evaluated BBQ from each of the 17 teams to deter- mine their personal favorite. Dean Wynne's choice was BBQing Bacca Boys from Wil- son. Jonathon Redmond had a two-way tie between Boondocks BBQ from Parkton and Team Lambert's from Spring Hope Terrell Manning's favorite was Backwoods BBQ from Raleigh, and Audie Cole's pre- ferred BBQ was Pig Sexy from Garner The day concluded with a BBQ lun- what Wolfpack fans got during the Wolf- PACKed weekend. On Saturday, April 21, the Wolfpack T Club held its 2nd annual Piggin' Out with the Pack BBQ Bowl. Seventeen BBQ teams competed not only for the BBQ Bowl title, but also to become a celebrity judge favorite, and to show their great pride for NC State. here is no better way to spend a week- end than with good friends, good food and good football, which is exactly The BBQ Bowl kicked off on Friday night with an exciting display of NC State camaraderie. Judges Torry Holt, Terrence Holt and Jonny Cannon (Wake County District Rep Chair) evaluated each team's display of NC State pride. Backwoods BBQ from Raleigh was selected as the 2012 Showmanship Award winner for their "backwoods" inspired setup. Saturday began bright and early with the official North Carolina Pork Council judging. Four certified judges from the NC cheon, live music from the Fantastic Shak- ers, kids FunZone, and, of course, the Kay Yow Spring Game. The Wolfpack Club raised $3,300, which will be divided be- tween the Kay Yow Foundation and the Kay Yow Endowment. Thank you to all those who came out to support NC State Athletics, and especially to our BBQ cook- ers.
