As a reminder, it is imperative that you do not compensate a student- athlete because of the publicity, reputation, fame or personal following that he or she has obtained due to their athletics ability. Additionally, a student-athlete should be compensated only for work performed. As an employer, you should ensure that the student-athlete is compensated at the going rate for similar services in your locality.
