If anything, he appears more confident than he should be. Then again, Brown has never come across as one to shy away from a chal- lenge. His defenses at Boston College were among the nation's best, and the talent at his disposal has now made him one of the best-known assistant coaches in the country after only one superb year at U-M. He's never come across as one prone to hyperbole, however. When he says he believes this year's defense has a chance to be really good … well, be- lieve him. "You know why I'm excited?
