WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING (5-1 OVERALL, 4-0 BIG TEN) The Wolverines were ranked No. 6 in the final CSCAA poll Feb. 7 … Michi- gan finished 11th with 159 points at the NCAA Championships March 15-19 in Indianapolis … U-M finished the national meet with six All-America performances — junior Clara Smiddy (200-yard backstroke), junior G Ryan (500-yard freestyle), sophomore Siob- hán Haughey (200-yard freestyle), ju- nior Gabby DeLoof (200-yard freestyle), sophomore Yirong Bi (500-yard freestyle) and the 800-yard freestyle relay (DeLoof, Bi, Haughey and Ryan). MEN'S TENNIS (18-5 OVERALL, 7-2 BIG TEN) U-M was No. 14 in the April 11 Intercol- legiate Tennis Association rankings … After four straight wins in the month of April, Michigan suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Illinois for its second con- ference setback … Despite the tough loss, the Wolverines bounced back in the next match with a 4-3 victory against then-No. 21 Northwestern April 16 … In the team's seven Big Ten victories this season, Michigan has dropped a total of nine sets … Michigan currently sits second in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State … The Wolverines play at Iowa April 21 and Nebraska April 23, before competing in the Big Ten Tournament April 27-30 in West Lafayette, Ind. WOMEN'S TENNIS (17-4 OVERALL, 9-0 BIG TEN) The Wolverines were ranked No. 9 in the April 11 ITA rankings … In the April 11 rankings of doubles teams, sophomore Kate Fahey and junior Alex Najarian were listed No. 7 nationally … Since March 10, Michigan has lost just one match and has not lost to a Big Ten opponent … The one loss over that period came on the road against then-No. 4 North Carolina (4-0) … Since that loss, the Wolverines have notched wins at Rutgers (6-1) April 7, at Maryland (4-1) April 9, versus Iowa (4-3) April 15 and against Nebraska (7-0) April 16 … Over that four-match stretch, Michigan lost a total of only four sets … Michigan was slated to take on North- western at home April 21 and then closes out the regular season at Illinois April 23 … The Big Ten Tournament was set for April 27-30 at Champaign, Ill. MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD Michigan helped the Big Ten to a victory in the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge March 24-25 in Tempe, Ariz., with the represen- tatives from the Big Ten posting a score of 393 … Sophomore Taylor McLaughlin took third place in the 400-meter hurdles at the event and Michigan had three scor- ers in the 1,500-meter race … The Wolver- ines took first place over Duke and North Carolina in the Battle of the Blues April 1 at Durham, N.C. … U-M's distance run- ners took home four event titles from the meet … At the Texas Invitational April 15- 16 in Austin, junior thrower Joe Ellis took home the title in the hammer throw … In addition, McLaughlin won the 400-meter hurdles and senior Khoury Crenshaw took third in the 100-meter race with a time of 10.38 that ranks fifth best in school his- tory … The Wolverines will compete in the Jesse Owens Invitational April 21-22 at Columbus, Ohio, as well as the Penn Relays April 27-29 in Philadelphia and the Longhorn Invitational April 28-29 in Aus- tin, Texas. WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD Michigan opened its outdoor track season with the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Chal- lenge March 24-25 in Tempe, Ariz., and helped the Big Ten to victory … Junior Claire Kieffer-Wright took the high jump title at the event with a jump of 1.75 me- ters … The Wolverines took on Duke and North Carolina at the Battle of the Blues April 1 in Durham, N.C. … The Wolver- ines finished second and were led by its distance runners, who took the top three places in the 3,000 meters and three of the top four spots in the 1,500 meters … Michigan's throwers were in action at the Texas Invitational April 14-15 in Austin … Junior Kayla Deering and sophomore Briana Nelson placed in the top 10 in the shot put … Senior Gina Sereno set a meet record with a win in the 5,000 meters (15:49.17) at the Clay Invitational April 13- 14 in Azusa, Calif. … Junior Claire Borch- ers won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a career-best time of 10:02.77 … The Wolverines were slated to compete at the Jesse Owens Invitational April 21-22 in Columbus Ohio; the Cardinal Classic April 21-22 in Palo Alto, Calif.; the Penn Relays April 27-29 in Philadelphia; the Gina Re- lays April 27-29 in Hillsdale, Mich.; and the Steve Scott Invitational April 28-29 in Irvine, Calif. WATER POLO (25-8 OVERALL, 8-0 CWPA) U-M was ranked No. 7 in the April 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association poll … Sophomore Julia Sellers was named CWPA Player of the Week March 30, fol- lowing her hat trick in an 11-6 victory over then-No. 15 Indiana March 25 … Senior Danielle Johnson was named CWPA Defensive Player of the Week April 6, after notching 11 steals and three field blocks over a four-game stretch … Se- nior Allison Skaggs earned CWPA Player of the Week honors April 6, after record- ing 12 goals during the previous seven days … Freshman goalie Heidi Ritner was named CWPA Defensive Player of the Week and CWPA Rookie of the Week April 12, after a three-game span during which she had 29 saves and five steals … Michi- gan closed out the regular season with wins over Brown (16-2) April 8, then-No. 17 Hartwick (16-10) April 8 and then-No. 20 Harvard (15-7) April 9 … Michigan will take part in the CWPA Championship April 28-30 in Bloomington, Ind. WRESTLING (8-7 OVERALL, 4-5 BIG TEN) The Wolverines were ranked No. 15 in the Feb. 21 National Wrestling Coaches Association poll … Michigan finished 10th with 47.5 points at the NCAA Championships March 16-18 in St. Louis … Redshirt freshmen Logan Massa, Myles Amine and Stevan Micic all fin- ished in the top four of their respective weight classes … Massa placed third in the 165-pound division and FloWrestling ranked him No. 15 in their final pound- for-pound rankings of all college wres- tlers … Amine earned fourth place at 174 pounds, while Micic took fourth in the 133-pound division. ❏ Senior Allison Skaggs was named the CWPA Player of the Week for the second time of the season on April 6; she ranks second on the team with 54 goals after the season's first 33 games.
