One of the most decorated athletes in UVa history, Believe it or not, there was a time when Duke was a Scott recalls one of the more memorable victories in Cavaliers football history. "One year we won at Duke when they were in the top five in the country," recalled Scott, who wore No. 82 in the NFL and turned 82 on Sept. 3. "I scored two touch- downs, one on a fumble and one on a pass. "Back then, Duke was all about football. They always were one of the top teams in the country, and we went down there and beat them. It was one of the biggest games of that era. I always felt Art Guepe always out- coached their coach." From 1950-52, UVa lost only five football games and who was named a first-team All-American in 1952 and played in the East-West Shrine Game plus the College All-Star Game. "Our split end was Gene Schroeder who went on to play for the Bears. He outran everybody and also was on the track team. "Charles Harding was one of our quarterbacks and continually was ranked among the top 10 teams in the country.
