As we move into the next 10 years, it will be critical to continue in- creasing the support from student-athlete alumni, as well as, growing the entire donor base of alumni, fans and friends. As of Aug. 31, 16 percent of student-athlete alumni had made a 2012 contribution to the Vir- ginia Athletics Foundation. The goal is 26 per- cent. Chelsea Shine, a native of Wayne, Pa., joined the staff on Aug. 1 as an intern. She is responsible for assist- ing in all aspects of the Foundation including administration, suites and events, stewardship, campaigning, fundraising and development. Shine is a 2012 graduate of UVa with a B.A. in sociology. She was a four-year member of the women's basketball team, serving as captain in 2010 and 2011. During her fourth year, she completed an internship through the university as an on-air personality responsible for produc- ing and delivering Virginia football game recaps, sports updates, post- game interviews, and public service announcements alongside WINA sports director Jay James. Jim Harshaw joined the VAF team on Aug. 18 and serves as an assistant director. He works closely with the wrestling program and has fund-raising responsibilities in Ro- anoke, and the states Florida and Georgia. A native of Cranberry Township, Pa., Jim received his B.S. in envi- ronmental science and master of teaching in secondary science from the University of Virginia in 1999, and was an All-American wrestler and three-time ACC champion. He most recently was a sales represen- tative with Grand Classroom. Jim founded Riot Sports Marketing, which is a local consulting firm spe- cializing in marketing, fund-raising and communications for small busi- nesses, non-profit organizations and athletic organizations. He recently resigned as executive director of the Cavalier Wrestling Club. He was a former assistant wrestling coach at Virginia (2000-02) before taking the head wrestling coach position at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania (2002-04).
