Fine Italian cuisine just minutes from Notre Dame... Like coming home for dinner! ItalIan RestauRants South Bend/Granger and Indianapolis Redshirt sophomore linebacker Jake Ryan recorded a career-high 11 tackles, including one stop behind the line of scrimmage, in the Wolverines' 31-25 win over Air Force Sept. 8. by No. 1 Alabama at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to open the year, followed by a 31-25 win over Air Force and a 63-13 win over UMass, has perhaps slightly cooled off some of the Heisman Trophy talk for the 6-0, 197-pound playmaker. In that span, Robinson collected six touch- down passes as well as four interceptions, though he still averaged 117.0 rushing yards and 233.0 passing yards per contest. The Irish know what they're up against in the do-it-all talent. But there are a num- ber of flashy freshmen in maize and blue with which Notre Dame must also deal. "Devin Funchess has been a huge sur- prise," said Mike Rothstein, who covers Michigan football for ESPN.com's Wol- verineNation. "Against Air Force, he had the first 100-yard receiving game by any Michigan tight end since 1997." There have been several pleasant sur- prises by rookies on defense and special teams as well. "He's certainly the best they've had since Darryl Stonum [who set the school record for return yards in a season with 1,001 in 2009]. He's pretty dynamic. He's very fast, very quick and for a freshman makes good reads." Norfleet has averaged 22.9 yards per re- turn on 13 attempts through three contests. "You've got two true freshmen, Joe Bolden and James Ross III, that are push- ing for time at linebacker," Rothstein explained. "You have a couple of true freshmen in Mario Ojemudia and Ondre Pipkins who are getting time on the defen- sive line. You have Jarrod Wilson at safety who's really … not necessarily making a push, because they're pretty set at safety, but he's in the safety rotation back there and seems to be getting in on specialized packages. "The amount of freshmen they're play- ing has been interesting. I think it's only going to grow more as the season wears on." For now, what head coach Brady Hoke ✦ PAGE 2 574-271-1500 Serving dinner daily from 3 pm until close Available for special events and carryout. NEW Private Party Room opening October 2012.
