JULY 2017 ■ 125 WOLFPACK FOOTBALL Griffin took a more low-key approach in eventually landing with NC State. "I'm just more mature in knowing what I want," Griffin said. "My first time around … a lot of stuff sounded good. "Nothing had really changed about NC State. I didn't really pay that much atten- tion to NC State when I first got recruited. I always kind of liked the school." Thaddeus Moss Leaves NC State After One Year NC State sophomore tight end Thaddeus Moss, the Pack's highest rated recruit in the 2016 class, announced April 13 that he would be transferring. Moss caught six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown while playing in all 13 games as a true freshman. He had missed the spring after undergoing shoulder surgery. The son of NFL legend Randy Moss, he was a four-star prospect when he signed with NCSU out of Mallard Creek High in Char- lotte. Rivals.com regarded Moss as the No. 7 recruit in the state, and the No. 6 tight end and the No. 123 overall player nationally. "I will be transferring from NC State after the spring semester in hopes to better my opportunities for the future," Moss said in a statement on Twitter. "I have nothing but love for Coach [Dave] Doeren and his program and I also would like to thank WPN [Wolf- pack Nation]." The 6-3, 240-pound Moss visited LSU for its spring game and selected the Tigers April 23. LSU, which hired former NC State offensive coordinator Matt Canada this off- season, didn't recruit Moss out of Mallard Creek, which was one of five high schools he attended, spanning North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia and Rhode Island. Moss is the fourth player to leave the Wolfpack program since the season ended, joining running back Johnny Frasier, tight end Pharoah McKever (graduate transfer to Florida International) and cornerback J.J. Givens (transfer to Norfolk State). Additionally, cornerback Sean Paul re- ceived a medical redshirt. ■ T E C Industrial™is a multi‐discipline specialty contractor that offers a full range of plant maintenance, construction and capital project services.
