HOLTON AHLERS, QB Greenville Conley High Ahlers is an athletic, stocky lefty and draws natural comparisons to former Florida Heisman Trophy-winning quarter- back Tim Tebow. Ahlers' video game numbers at Conley included complet- ing 284 of 460 passes for 4,503 yards with 51 touchdowns and nine picks, and running 150 times for 911 yards and 15 scores. He also plays both baseball and basket- ball at Conley. At the Nike Opening Re- gional, Ahlers checked in at 6-3½ and 235 pounds, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.89 seconds and the shuttle in 4.43 seconds. Ahlers verbally committed to East Caro- lina, where his father is the public address announcer for football games, over NC State. Rivals.com ranks him as a three-star player, the No. 23 prospect in the state and the No. 19 dual-threat quarterback in the land. 9. JORDAN DAVIS, DT Charlotte Mallard Creek High At 6-6 and 320 pounds, Davis draws physical comparisons to Clemson sopho- more defensive tackle Dex- ter Lawrence, the No. 2 player in the country in the 2016 class from Wake For- est (N.C.) High. Rivals.com rates Davis as the No. 12 prospect in the state and the No. 17 defensive tackle na- tionally. He has offers from, among others, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina and Oklahoma. NCSU has hosted Davis for multiple unofficial visits in the spring and summer. 10. RICKY PERSON, ATH Wake Forest Heritage High Person battled nagging injuries to run 145 times for 774 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior at Heritage, his first season there after transferring from Franklinton (N.C.) High. The 6-1, 207-pounder was laser-timed at 4.71 seconds in the 40 and 4.05 seconds in the shuttle at the Nike Opening Regional, and also registered a 36.1-inch vertical jump.
