Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick has informed Michigan athletics director David Brandon that ND will execute a three-year out clause in its contract, cancelling scheduled meetings between the two schools from 2015-17. NO MORE NOTRE DAME "The decision to cancel games in 2015-17 was Notre Dame's and not ours," said Brandon. "We value our annual rivalry with Notre Dame but will have to see what the future holds for any continuation of the series. "This cancellation presents new scheduling opportunities for our pro- gram and provides a chance to create some new rivalries." U-M and ND are set to play two more games, in 2013-14, before this contract void would take place, but by canceling the 2015 meeting, the Irish would finish with seven home games, and Michigan just six, since the rivalry resumed in 2002 follow- ing a two-year hiatus. Both teams had agreed to a break in 2018-19. With the future of the rivalry to be determined, Michigan owns a 23-16-1 edge in the series.
