RISING STAR To hear his teammates
and coaches tell it, Johnson was one of
the breakout stars of spring practice.
We have no reason to doubt those
glowing appraisals. A 6-foot-4, 230-
pound redshirt sophomore, Johnson
made a quiet debut last year, catching
only two passes for 70 yards. But op-
portunity has knocked this year, and
Johnson has apparently answered.
"Juwan Johnson has been a guy who
has really come on," coach James
Franklin said following spring practice.
Added receivers coach Josh Gattis,
"He's a guy who is going to make a lot
of plays for us this upcoming season
and help us win a lot of games." John-
son was a four-star recruit coming out
of Glassboro (N.J.) High in 2015, but by
his own admission he suffered from
bouts of inconsistency during his high
school career. If those problems are be-
hind him – and he certainly looked
sharp in the Blue-White Game this
past April, catching seven passes for 81
yards and a last-second touchdown –
the sky's the limit.
BIGGEST LOSS Is this a trick question?
Godwin obviously is the Nittany Lions'
biggest loss a
