Coordinator Brent Pry strives to get the right people in the right places

s far as Brent Pry is concerned,
there's a purpose to every page of
the football calendar. The winter
months are about building mental and
physical toughness. The spring
is a time for the coaches to get
younger players acclimated to
higher-profile roles while
identifying their strengths and
weaknesses. The summer is all
about individual initiative.
Players know what they have to work on
and are largely on their own as they
focus on improving. Then comes Au-
gust, and the staff starts to see whether
all that off-season prepara-
tion has paid off.
In a few weeks, Pry will
begin addressing some of
the most pressing questions
facing the Nittany Lions
this coming season. Are
Torrence Brown and Shareef Miller
ready to step into the vacant defensive
end spots? Is Koa Farmer prepared for a
starting role at linebacker alongside
Manny Bowen and Jason Cabinda? Will
the secondary be able to overcome the
loss of John Reid to an injury in spring
practice? Pry is eager to start getting
some answers.

idea, 'Man, we've got to get Jason better
