26 PRESEASON 2017 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED Other changes or prominent fea- tures include: • The seating capacity that used to be 80,795 is expected to be some- where in between 77,000 and 78,000 as a result of widening seats from 16 to 18 inches in width for better comfort. Also, the field seats where the Notre Dame band had been were removed, and the band will now sit in the student section as in days of yore. • Blue vinyl-clad benches replaced the old bench seats, which also has given a cleaner feel to the structure, in addition to other refurbishing. • Premium club seating and ter- races on both the west and east sides of the stadium have been added. • Wi-Fi is available throughout the stadium, plus a new dedicated cel- lular network will significantly up- grade cell service. • Fully renovated and histori- cally themed concourses celebrate the original Notre Dame Stadium, and include new signage, decorative lighting and bricked columns. • 150 video monitors have been placed at various locations through- New carpeting, plasma televisions and other amenities combine with the original and refurbished brick to give Notre Dame Stadium, which opened in 1930, a retro yet still modern look overall.
