The Irish expanded the cornerback board Sept. 18 by offering Washing- ton (D.C.) H.D Woodson four-star Noah Boykin, a Maryland commit. The No. 2 player in Washington, D.C., Boykin told Blue & Gold Illus- trated following the offer that he will consider taking a visit to Notre Dame going forward. • Notre Dame expanded its 2019 quarterback board by one Sept. 17 when it extended an offer to Truss- ville (Ala.) Hewitt Trussville quarter- back Paul Tyson. A three-star prospect, Tyson has visited Notre Dame twice already. Tyson made a trip to South Bend for Sophomore Day April 2, and returned to campus for Irish Invasion June 10. The 6-4, 205-pound Tyson told Rivals national analyst Chad Simmons he had been hoping to land a Notre Dame offer. So far this season, through Sept. 21, Tyson has completed 65 of 82 passes for 949 yards with 11 touchdowns. • After taking an unofficial visit to Notre Dame for the Georgia game and an official trip to Oklahoma the following week, Kalon Gervin — the No. 14 cornerback and No. 106 overall player in the senior class — planned to make a trip to East Lansing to see the Spar- tans take on Notre Dame Sept. 23. While Gervin was going on the visit to get a closer look at Michigan State, he also would have another chance to see Mike Elko's Irish defense up close. Gervin, a former Notre Dame com- mit, renewed his interest in the Irish after communication with defensive backs coach Todd Lyght picked up. • Notre Dame hosted several top 2018 targets for the Georgia game Sept. 9, but one of the best players from the class of 2020 was on cam- pus as well. New Canaan (Conn.) High quarterback Drew Pyne made his sec- ond trip to South Bend after throw- ing for the coaches on campus this summer and picking up an offer. Pyne holds offers from all over the country, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami (Fla.) Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Afterwards, Pyne told Rivals national analyst Adam Friedman that he enjoyed the visit and was impressed with the play of Notre Dame starting quarterback Brandon Wimbush. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney Follow @BGI_CoreyBodden and @BGI_DMcKinney on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com! Commitment Updates Games played Sept. 15-16 unless otherwise noted RECRUITING NOTES Notre Dame hosted one of the nation's top 2020 quarterbacks in Drew Pyne of New Canaan (Conn.) High for the Georgia game Sept. 9, and the Irish should be a player for the talented signal-caller throughout his process. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
