www.BLUEANDGOLD.com OCT. 23, 2017 7 FAN FORUM FROM THE WEBSITE From a preseason perspec- tive, the top four teams on Notre Dame's 2017 schedule were Georgia (Sept. 9) and USC (Oct. 21) at home, and then the November road trips to Miami (Nov. 11) and Stan- ford (Nov. 25). However, while watching North Carolina State beat Louisville Oct. 5, many Irish fans on BlueandGold. com believe the Wolfpack can also be a threat the week af- ter the USC game, especially after coming off a bye. PapaBear: They might be the toughest team left on the schedule. Gaabadnd: That NC State d-line is impressive. None99: NC State has 2 weeks to prepare for us. Glad it's at home. That one is going to be a battle. Spaddy: That Louisville OL is terrible, though. They had given up 19 sacks before this game and can't run the ball unless it's QB Lamar Jackson running. NCSU is a very good team. USC, NCSU, Miami and Navy all might have 1 loss or less when we play them. MSU had 2 weeks to pre- pare for us and we jumped them 14-0. Epdoc: We better be sharper with the passing game against these guys or it'll be replay of Georgia game. NonCents: It'll be a great game no doubt, but I still think the Miami game is the toughest left on the schedule. 4Simm: This game is made more difficult by where it is on the schedule — the week after USC in prime time. Pretty difficult to be at an emotional peak two weeks in a row. Apegambino: I will give NC State head coach Dave Doeren his credit because I have been on him for the past few years of being a flop hire. This year his team is finally beating some- one with a pulse. His 9-23 record in the ACC his first four seasons is pretty laughable. But Louisville is a one-man show with Jackson. The Cards' OL is truly pathetic and without Jackson I don't see how this team would even make a bowl game. FSU also had to start a true freshman at QB vs. NC State. PHOTO BY KEN MARTIN Word of Life" on the Hesburgh Me- morial Library would make an inter- esting trivia question. What do "Touchdown Jesus" and Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan have in common? Answer: There are 5,714 granite tiles in the Touchdown Jesus mosaic, and Ryan's career strikeouts num- bered 5,714 (most ever). My first memory of a Notre Dame game was Terry Brennan's 97-yard opening kickoff return in the 1947 Notre Dame-Army game. I've been privileged to attend over 20 games at Notre Dame Stadium. Experiencing the campus is the closest to heaven a Notre Dame fan can get. I've enjoyed Blue & Gold Illustrated for many years. Keep up the great work — it is very much appreciated. Francis E. Meyers II Johnstown, Pa. Mr. Meyers, just when you think you know it all about Notre Dame … you come along with this fact. Thank you for your support and patronage throughout the years. It is very much appreciated on our end.
