NOVEMBER 2017 THE WOLVERINE 87 BY CHRIS BALAS T om Brady was already the all- time winningest quarterback in NFL history heading into an Oct. 15 game with the New York Jets, thanks in large part to his playoff prowess (25 victories). He set another record by passing Peyton Manning and Brett Favre with his 187th regular- season win in a 24-17 victory over the Jets, one in which he completed 20 of 38 passes for 257 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He's now up to 212 wins total, and counting. "I wish we would have done bet- ter, but we won," Brady told report- ers after the game. "There's probably a lot to learn from it. I wish we could have played a little better offensively, but we battled." Brady got his 187th win in his 241st start, a .776 winning percentage. Manning needed 265 games to get to 186 wins (.702), while Favre made it to 186 in 298 starts (.624). The former U-M signal-caller wasn't in any mood to revel in his success after a sloppy win. "We just didn't execute as well as we needed to," he said. "I think that's probably the big thing, just ex- ecution. We'll keep at it. "It's only the sixth game of the year, so there's a lot to figure out." The Patriots improved to 4-2, none- theless.
