through the first half of the 2012 season by coming off the bench to set up the game-winning field goal against Purdue (Sept. 8), reliev- ing starter Everett Golson in the 13-6 win against Michigan (Sept. 22), and replacing the injured Golson in the fourth quarter versus Stanford with the Irish trailing 13-10 before winning in overtime 20-13.
