Commitment Updates Games played Oct. 19-21 unless otherwise noted • Notre Dame will host one of its top overall targets at the wide receiver position when New Orleans McDonogh 35 product Lawrence Keys comes to town for the Navy game Nov. 18. Keys, a three-star prospect, has Notre Dame among his top six schools, along with Auburn, Nebraska, TCU, Houston and LSU. Keys has expressed significant interest in the Irish since being offered Feb. 23, but had been unable to put together a visit until now. Despite his three- star ranking, the Notre Dame staff has made Keys a priority target and will continue to push heavily to land his commitment. • Edina (Minn.) High four-star offensive tackle Quinn Carroll took his second trip to South Bend for the USC game Oct. 21, and the Irish continue to be in a strong position with the 2019 Rivals100 product. Following the visit, Carroll told Blue & Gold Illustrated that offensive line coach Harry Hiestand and head coach Brian Kelly sat him down and told him how much of a priority he is for the 2019 class. Carroll, the No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 71 overall player in the junior class according to Rivals, said he and his family spent just under an hour talk- ing with Hiestand about Notre Dame and where he would fit on the offensive line. Notre Dame will have to fight off programs like Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and several others to land Carroll, but the Irish look to be in a solid position early. • Rivals250 prospect Mazi Smith made another visit to Notre Dame for the USC game, his second game day of the season, with the first coming over the weekend of the Georgia game Sept. 9. Smith, the No. 8 defensive tackle and No. 186 overall player in the nation according to Rivals, is a top defensive line target for Notre Dame in the 2019 class, and has been high on Notre Dame for a long time. Following the visit, he told Blue & Gold Illustrated he can see himself playing in the Irish defense under defensive coordinator Mike Elko and defensive line coach Mike Elston. Smith noted that he has a strong relationship with Elston, and has been impressed with the improvement the unit has made since Elston took over. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney Follow @BGI_CoreyBodden and @BGI_DMcKinney on Twitter for daily updates available on BlueandGold.com!
