■ PACK PROS Andre Brown Finally Gets His Chance In his first three NFL seasons, former NC State running back Andre Brown logged just two carries — both came in a 2010 game while playing for the Den- ver Broncos. He ranks 16th in the NFL with 50 points scored. Denver Broncos The second-year linebacker has played in five games and notched seven tackles. Markus Kuhn Ted Larsen Larsen has appeared in six games with four starts at guard. New York Giants The veteran lineman has started all seven games for the Giants, while playing both left and right tackle. Terrell Manning Green Bay Packers The rookie has appeared in two games for the Packers and totaled one tackle. Philip Rivers QB J.R. Sweezy OL LB R 6 6 San Diego Chargers The Chargers' starting quarterback has completed 66.5 percent of his passes (139 of 209) for 1,492 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions for a QB rating of 85.3. Seattle Seahawks He has appeared in six of the team's seven contests with one start at guard. Stephen Tulloch DE S Detroit Lions The middle linebacker has started every game this year and totaled 40 tackles, 0.5 sacks and four pass deflections. Mario Williams Buffalo Bills The Bills' big free agent addition has started every game and recorded 16 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one pass deflection. R 2 Arizona Cardinals The veteran strong safety has started six of seven games for his team, and tallied 26 stops, one sack, five pass deflections, an interception and one forced fumble. Seattle Seahawks The third-round draft pick has started all seven games and completed 59.4 percent of his attempts (104 of 175) for 1,230 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions for a passer rating of 79.5. Detroit Lions It all paid off earlier this year for the 25-year-old, who has been waived eight times by five different teams. He received his first significant action in week two when starting running back Ahmad Brad- shaw was hurt in the second quarter, and Brown rushed 13 times for a game-best 71 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a 41-34 victory over Tampa Bay. The former Pack standout also tallied two re- ceptions for 19 yards and scored on a two- point conversion in the game. The next week, Brown and the Giants traveled to Charlotte to take on the Car- olina Panthers, and New York turned to the fourth-year back (he spent 2009 on injured reserve) to carry the load. In his homecoming, the 6-0, 227-pounder started and rushed 20 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to bringing in three catches for 17 yards. Bradshaw is healthy once again, but Brown proved that he could fill a major role if needed in those back-to-back per- formances. He has moved into the backup role behind Bradshaw and had 43 rushes for 215 yards and four touchdowns through Oct. 22, in addition to seven receptions for 57 yards. His average of 5.0 yards per carry was ranked 15th in the league among runners with at least 20 carries, and he also ranked 18th among non-kickers in scoring with 26 points. Strong At Tour Championship Former NC State All-American Carl Pet- Carl Pettersson Finishes tersson has continued his strong play on the PGA Tour, and after putting up top-five fin- ishes at the PGA Championship and Wynd- ham Championship in August, he finished in a tie for 20th at the Tour Championship Sept. 23. Through 26 events, the Swede had re- corded six top-10 finishes, including a win at the RBC Heritage in April, and finished seventh in the FedExCup standings. His number of top-10 efforts is tied for 18th best on the tour, while he stands 13th on the money list ($3,538,656). Pettersson's cur- rent official world golf ranking is No. 32. Tim Clark rebounded from an injury- plagued 2011 with a solid showing on Tour. He put together a string of four consecu- tive finishes in the top 15 from late July to August, including a runner-up honor at the Wyndham Championship Aug. 19. Through 20 events, he had logged three top-10 fin- ishes and seven top-25 showings. He fin- ished 54th in the FedExCup standings and logged nearly $1.5 million in winnings, ranking 61st on the money list. Clark has an official world golfing ranking of No. 83. ■
