The Pack rebounded by beating North Carolina in overtime, despite Thompson's foul trouble. Two more wins bounced the Wolfpack back to No. 2 in the polls. But Maryland struck again, beating Thompson and company, 98-97, ending the 36-game home winning streak and handing the senior class the only loss it would ever suffer at Reynolds Coliseum. Twice more Thompson and his team- mates tasted defeat, to North Carolina and Clemson.
