The best and the rest from the Nittany JUDGMENT P LAYER OF THE GAME Ohio State quar- terback Braxton Miller had an outstanding second-half per- formance, posting 11 carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Plus he threw for another 98 yards and a touchdown. PLAY OF THE GAME With defensive end Sean Stanley blowing up Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde on third- and-goal from the 1-yard line, Miller hung onto the ball, avoided a tackle, danced in the backfield and jumped into the end zone to give the Buck- eyes a 21-10 lead late in the third quarter. BEST RUN Miller took a second-and-10 run from the Penn State 39 all the way down to the 6 with about a minute to play in the first half. It set up the Buckeyes' first touchdown of the game. BEST PASS Miller completed a beauti- ful ball over the middle to Jake Stoneburner, who took off for a 72- yard touchdown to seal the game with just 6:06 left to play. WORST PASS On third-and-long deep in Penn State territory, Matt McGloin threw into the arms of linebacker Ryan Shazier, who found a clear path into the end zone. The play gave Ohio State a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter. COACHSPEAK TAKING THE BLAME Bill O'Brien said the loss to Ohio State "starts with me. I did- n't do a very good job as the head football coach. I need to do a much better job for this football team." He finished with 173 total offensive yards and three touch- downs in the second half alone. John Beale WORST DROP Stephen Obeng- Agyapong made a beautiful break on Miller's second-down pass early in the game, but let the ball slip through his hands. BEST EFFORT With the score at 0-0 in the second quarter, Mike Hull broke free on an Ohio State punt, laid out for the block and sent the ball trick- ling into the end zone, where Mike Yancich fell on it for the touchdown. BEST KICK Alex Butterworth had a ca- reer game, booting a career-best 58- yarder and finishing with an average of 41.2 yards per attempt on five tries. Four went inside the Buckeyes' 20-yard line. KEY STATISTICS Penn State converted just 5 of 17 third downs on the evening, allowed an uncharacteristic four sacks, and was penalized nine times for 85 yards. MOST TELLING MOMENT In the fourth quarter, Ohio State was called for roughing the passer, eliciting a huge cheer from the home crowd.
