Four-star DT has Penn State in top three RYAN SNYDER | B L U E WH I T E I L L U s T R A T E d Bill O'Brien wasn't exaggerating when he recently said that Penn State would host upward of 100 recruits for the game against Ohio State. While the exact number probably won't be revealed to anyone outside of the Lasch Building, early estimates sug- gest that the staff may have hosted as many as 120 high school football players for the White Out game against Ohio State at Beaver Stadium Saturday. Defensive tackle Rod Crayton of Dadeville, Ala., was arguably the most sought-after recruit in attendance. The four-star player, who holds 27 scholar- ship offers, took one of his five official visits this weekend, and his high school assistant coach Rashaan Evans said Penn State may be in a great posi- tion going forward. "I would say that Penn State, if they're not No. 1, then they're in his top three," Evans said. "Tennessee and LSU would be the other two schools. He's got a bunch of scholar- ship offers, so he still has to sort some things out, but those schools are probably the top three right now." All-purpose running back Richie An- derson of Frederick, Md., also took an official visit Saturday. Despite the fact that the three-star player is verbally committed to Maryland, Anderson ap- pears to be giving O'Brien and his staff a serious look. Sources close to the family have hinted that Anderson could let the staff know his final deci- sion in the next week or two. The son of the former Nittany Lion running back of the same name will be a prospect to watch closely in the com- ing days. Another prospect Penn State fans should be keeping an eye on is run- ning back Wesley Bullock of Tampa, Fla. Bullock has basically cut his list to Penn State and Toledo after taking unofficial visits to see both the Nittany Lions and Rockets play. Now he, too, has suggested that he may make a de- cision in the next few weeks. The majority of the prospects who are verbally committed to Penn State also made the trip, including tight end Adam Breneman of Camp Hill, Pa., quarterback Christian Hackenberg of Fork Union, Va., offensive lineman Andrew Nelson of Hershey, Pa., and defensive back Jordan Smith of Wash- ington, D.C. Other top 2013 prospects included Zayd Issah, a linebacker from Harris- burg, Pa., who was previously com- mitted to Penn State, and Harrisburg wide receiver Brian Lemelle. GAME GALLERY With the 2013 class roughly two- thirds of the way complete, however, the majority of attendees are currently juniors in high school. Some of the top Class of 2014 names included line- backer Troy Reeder of Wilmington, Del.; offensive lineman Connor More- hart of Shillington, Pa.; defensive back D'Andre Payne of Washington, D.C.; wide receiver Chris Godwin of Middle- town, Del.; and athlete Marques Little of Williamstown, N.J.
