double-double (14 points, 19 rebounds) from one of their more intriguing players, redshirt sophomore forward De'Janae Boykin. A Connecticut transfer who missed most of last season with a foot in- jury, Boykin has a chance to make a big impact for Penn State this year. Said Washington, "She's a really good athlete and she has really good timing going after the boards." For Washington, the key going forward will be to make sure that all of the team's young players are absorbing everything she and her staff are trying to teach. "The challenge is to not go too fast and throw a whole bunch of things at the wall and nothing sticks. The challenge is to move them along, challenge them, but move them along at a pace where we can be effective on game day," she said. "As coaches, we want to put in a lot of stuff, and you have to move at a pace that is challenging for them, but that doesn't outpace what they can perform. That is something we have to be very mindful of as coaches." ■ NO NAME POS YR HT HOME SCHOOL 1 Alisia Smith F Fr./Fr. 6-3 Lansing, Mich. Waverly 2 Amari Carter G Jr./So. 5-8 Washington, D.C.
