MICHIGAN RECRUITING Detroit OL David Dawson Decommits From U-M A leb Stacey, tight end Pharaoh Brown and cornerback Anthony Standifer), Michigan's "no-visits" policy — in which committed players can't visit other schools without losing their spot in Ann Arbor — seemed like it would prevent the Wolverines having any of those situations in the 2013 group. As is always the case in recruiting, fter three decommitments in the 2012 class (offensive lineman Ca- though, the only thing that's definite is that nothing is definite. That was exemplified by Detroit Cass Tech of- fensive lineman David Dawson's de- commitment from the Wolverines. The 6-4, 295-pound Dawson is a staff of his decision to visit Florida Oct. 14, and they told him that not only would he lose his spot in the recruiting class, but his scholarship offer from Michigan was no longer on the table. Dawson visited Florida Oct. 19-21, but did not commit to the Gators. He is also considering visits to LSU, Ala- bama, Michigan State and Ohio State before making his final decision. the summer, but each time was re- minded by Michigan's coaching staff of the policy. Eventually, however, his desire to see The Swamp won out. He informed Michigan's coaching four-star prospect, the No. 7 offensive guard nationally and the No. 165 over- all prospect in the country, according to Rivals.com. Up until his decommit- ment, he was part of a five-man offen- sive line class for Michigan consisting entirely of players rated among the top 250 players in the land. Dawson's decision stemmed from his desire to take trips to other schools, particularly Florida. They have reached out to a number of prospects along the front line, with varying degrees of response. Eastern Christian Academy guard Khaliel Rodger, a USC commit, have each reported interest from Michigan. However, all of them have indicated that their current commitments will be honored, and they aren't listening to what U-M has to say. Brantford (Ont.) Pauline Johnson Collegiate tackle David Knevel is one prospect who could listen to what the Wolverines have to say. The 6-8, 290-pound tackle has not yet made his college commitment, and is hearing from schools such as Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Alabama, all of whom have offered except for the Tide. Michigan has reached out, and he may re-work his visit schedule to take a trip to Ann Arbor if he feels confident in receiving an offer. Pomfret (Md.) McDonough guard Na'Ty Rodgers has also reported con- tact from Michigan. The Wolverines are entering the race for Rodgers a little late in the process — his list has been narrowed to Maryland and South Car- olina — but an offer from Michigan is one that he says he'll at least be willing to consider. WR 6-3 185 Harper Woods, Mich. If they cannot lure a prospect that they really want, the spot that opened
