Rate National Champs Again Graduation Success the eight-year history of the Graduation Success Rate, Notre Dame ranked No. 1 on a percentage ba- sis in terms of number of GSR 100 scores, among all NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The study was released Oct. 25. The percentage is de- For the seventh time in termined by the percent- age of athletics programs at the schools that have a 100-percent gradua- tion record. Among Notre Dame's 22 programs, 19 had a 100-percent gradu- ation rate, making the .863 percentage the highest among the 120 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs in the country. None of the other three Irish sports were below 91 percent. The GSR is different from the federal rate re- garding transfers. For example, if Notre Dame recruits 20 foot- ball players in a year, 18 graduate from the school and two transfer but still graduate elsewhere, it would still be counted as only 90 percent for Notre Dame (18 out of 20). The GSR does not count such a transfer. GSR and federal gradu- ation rates among 1) all- student athletes, 2) foot- ball student-athletes and 1. Notre Dame, 99 2. Duke, 98 3.
