4 THE WOLVERINE JANUARY 2018 Dear The Wolverine: I love Michigan football, Har- baugh, A2, etc., but shame on the fans, especially the students who ap- pear to have given up a lot of their tickets to Ohio fans this Saturday! I'm sick of seeing these fair- weather, bandwagon fans jumping ship when we haven't had the sea- son hoped for. You do know that you didn't actually have to attend the university to bleed blue right? What an embarrassment. No won- der The Big House isn't the most- feared stadium in the country, but it should be. I will always support Michigan. However, although John O'Korn may be a great kid, there is no excuse in year three that we don't have a great QB. Michigan got beat by a second- string QB [against Ohio State] be- cause our QB was awful! Missed open receivers, made bad decisions, etc. No more excuses after this year! We actually need to win the big games, I'm very disappointed. GO BLUE! Laura Webb Lakeland, Fla. Dear The Wolverine: While thanks is in the air, it is Thanksgiving after all, a huge shout out and thank you to the entire staff of The Wolverine for all that you do. The weekly updates in season are worth waiting for win or lose. I will be a lifetime subscriber. After reading and watching many sources attack Coach H, all that I can say is consider the source. When driv- ing to the airport after the MSU game, I found some talk radio and listened to the "green" host ask a bunch of callers if Coach H was on the hot seat, deserved his salary and if M might be able to find a better coach just be- cause of rivalry game records. It was all laughable to me, and I congratulated all of the Spartan fans that I saw at the airport. Such blather continued after our last tough loss to a good Wisconsin team. The Wolverine has done it's typical wonderful job of covering even the rivalry game record that I need not repeat here. Our team replaced two offensive lineman who are on prac- tice pro squads, three starting receiv- ers (who were merely All-Big Ten, the team MVP or the Mackey Award win- ner) who are either injured or playing on Sunday and our starting tailback. Then we lost our best offensive lineman (Grant Newsome) before the season started, our best new receiver (Tarik Black), and starting QB and his backup to uncalled late hits. That adds up to about nine players off the offense and if you want to count the running back situation, you can eas- ily make it 10. Now the defense merely lost 11 of the first 12 players (when you count corner Jeremy Clark who was slated to start in the fall before the first game and was drafted), and it made us the second youngest team in col- lege football before our key injuries this year. So with the projection of an 8-4 or 9-3 season, what do I say … Coach H for life! It has a nice ring to it. Why? First, we all know what it's like to not have a legacy coach though I supported Coach Rich Rod and Coach Hoke while they were here. … Second, and most important, Coach H is the right man for the job! He is simply the best possible man for the job with his legacy of success at every level, his complete and total love of all things Michigan, his re- cord here for gosh sakes, his record of developing student-athletes, and his complete belief in the values of U-M.
