54 THE WOLVERINE JANUARY 2018   FOOTBALL RECRUITING Quarterback Joe Milton, 6-5, 210, Orlando, Fla. (Olympia) Committed May 7, and will graduate and enroll early at Michi- gan. Checks in as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback and No. 189 overall prospect nationally. Kevin Doyle, 6-4, 210, Washington D.C. (St. John's College High) For a while it appeared like U-M would only take one quar- terback in the 2018 class, but then the three-star prospect and No. 24 pro-style quarterback in the country popped for U-M after he visited for the Air Force game. Running Back Hassan Haskins, 6-1, 207, Eureka, Mo. (Eureka) The three-star prospect and No. 41 running back in the country picked up his U-M offer in October and then committed while in town for the Rutgers game. Christian Turner, 5-10, 180, Buford, Ga. (Buford) Pledged to Michigan in April and never wavered. He battled some injuries as a senior, but still had a productive campaign in a loaded Buford backfield. He's considered the No. 18 running back in the nation. Wide Receiver Ronnie Bell, 6-1, 170, Kansas City, Mo. (Park Hill)* Previously committed to Missouri State for basketball, he picked up his Michigan offer and he committed to the Wolverines sight unseen. The two-star receiver will officially visit U-M Jan. 19. Ja'Marr Chase, 6-2, 185, Metairie, La. (Rummel) A one-time Kansas and Florida pledge, he decommitted from the Gators once head coach Jim McElwain was fired and officially visited Michigan for the Ohio State game. He injured his knee as a senior and fell just a bit in the rankings to No. 11 among wide receivers and No. 62 overall nationally. Chris Olave, 6-1, 170, San Marcos, Calif. (Mission Hills) He was supposed to visit Michigan in an official capacity over the Dec. 15 weekend, but had to cancel because of a family issue. The Buckeyes, along with Utah and USC, have already hosted the No. 75 wide receiver in the country, and one of those programs will probably land the three-star. Tight End Luke Ford, 6-7, 247, Carterville, Ill. (Carterville) The No. 1 player in Illinois, and No. 1 tight end and No. 83 over- all prospect nationally received an in-home visit from Michigan tight ends coach Greg Frey, but it feels like Alabama, Georgia and Texas are all outpacing the Wolverines for his services. Mustapha Muhammad, 6-5, 240, Missouri City, Texas (Ridge Point) The country's No. 16 tight end made his decision Oct. 20, and it shocked no one when he threw on a Michigan lid. He isn't signing until February, but is not going to look around at other programs. Luke Schoonmaker, 6-6, 229, Hamden, Conn. (Hamden Hall Country Day School) His commitment to Michigan was a surprise because no one knew he even had an offer. The U-M staff identified the three-star at a satellite camp and offered him in June. The No. 36 tight end in the country committed to Michigan shortly after and has not looked around at any other schools. Offensive Line Jalen Goss, 6-6, 270, Valdosta, Ga. (Lowndes) Michigan has recruited the state of Georgia hard and the three- star lineman is one of the reasons why. He is long, lean and ath- letic, but raw. Miami and Auburn are two of his other favorites, but U-M might be his leader after his positive official visit to Ann Arbor over the Dec. 8 weekend. Ryan Hayes, 6-7, 250, Traverse City, Mich. (West) The No. 47 tackle in the country committed to Michigan in low- key fashion and has not wavered since. He's being looked at as a jumbo tight end by the U-M staff, but could very well end up playing tackle down the line. Jalen Mayfield, 6-5, 275, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Catholic Central) The No. 8 player in Michigan and No. 31 tackle in the nation committed to U-M in May after originally having pledged to P.J. Fleck and Minnesota. Programs like USC, Alabama and Ohio State continued recruiting him, but nothing will keep him from ending up in Ann Arbor. Jarrett Patterson, 6-5, 275, Mission Viejo, Calif. (Mission Viejo) The one-time Arizona commit picked up his Michigan offer in late October and officially visited over the Dec. 8 weekend. A follow-up official visit to UCLA is going to be the deciding factor for the No. 34 offensive tackle, who plans a January decision between the Wolverines and the Bruins. Nick Petit-Frere, 6-5, 265, Tampa, Fla. (Berkeley Prep) Petit-Frere jumped more than 100 spots in the most recent rankings from No. 175 to No. 67 overall. The No. 7 offensive tackle is one of Michigan's top overall targets and will be recruited hard until he decides. The Wolverines will practice at his high school for their bowl game, which will give the staff some indirect op- portunities to "recruit" him while in town. Defensive End Eyabi Anoma, 6-5, 235, Baltimore (St. Frances) Former Michigan analyst Biff Poggi is now the head coach at St. Frances, which is a bit intriguing in terms of U-M's involvement with the newly minted five-star. The No. 4 weakside defensive end and No. 24 overall prospect nationally is considering Michigan, but Alabama seems to be setting the pace as January approaches. 2018 Scholarship Offer Master List Master List Notes Committed To Michigan: WR Ronnie Bell, DE Taylor Up- shaw and ATH Ben VanSumeren.
