Juco QB set for official visit RYAN SNYDER | B L U E WH I T E I L L U S T R A T E d From a recruiting standpoint, the turnout for Penn State's game against Indiana won't be nearly as large as it was for Ohio State on Oct. 27, but this weekend could prove to be very impor- tant when it comes to landing the staff's final few targets for the Class of 2013. Arguably the most important recruit who will be in attendance is junior col- lege quarterback Jake Waters, who plans to take an official visit. With Matt McGloin in his final season of eligibil- ity, only two scholarship quarterbacks are currently expected to be on the Nit- tany Lions' roster next fall. So Waters is not only important for depth, but he could also compete for the starting job in his first season at Penn State. This season, Waters helped lead Iowa Western Community College to a 10-0 record, while completing 72.4 percent of his passes and throwing for 39 touchdowns. He threw only three in- terceptions and has two seasons of el- igibility remaining. His success has grabbed the atten- tion of a host of Division I programs, but at this point, it looks as if Penn State and Kansas State are his top two schools. He'll visit Kansas State Dec. 7, so look for a potential decision to come before Christmas. Waters will enroll at the school of his choice in January. Running back Aaron Wimberly, Wa- ters' teammate at Iowa Western, will also take an official visit to Penn State this weekend. Like Waters, Wimberly holds a scholarship offer from the Nit- tany Lions. Unlike Waters, however, he previously made a verbal commitment to Iowa State. Averaging 7.6 yards per carry, Wim- berly has racked up a total of 1,092 yards this season with 13 touchdowns and just one fumble. His stats and success have sparked interest from both Boise State and Iowa. As of now, though, he hasn't planned any other visits besides Penn State, while main- taining that he's firmly committed to the Cyclones. Since both Waters and Wimberly plan to enroll for the spring semester, if they Rivals.com DEEP WATERS Also considering Kansas State, Waters will officially visit Penn State Saturday. choose Penn State, their scholarships would count against the Nittany Lions' Class of 2012. Wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton from Stafford, Va., is one of the final few athletes who could potentially fill out the Class of 2013. "They came on pretty strong after they offered," Hamilton said, referring to the Penn State coaching staff. "They're trying to rebuild from all the kids they were losing from all the con- troversy up there. They're just trying to find a new recruiting class. They came on strong." Hamilton currently plans to take of- ficial visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech at the end of the season – two schools that many believe he's cur- rently leaning toward. However, if all goes well during his visit this weekend, he could very well end up taking an of- ficial visit to Penn State following the conclusion of the college season. A few additional visitors who are ex- pected to be in attendance this week- end include two top 2014 offensive linemen from Pennsylvania – James McHale from Dunmore and Mike Grimm from Bethel Park.
