Allen Robinson couldn't be cov- ered all day. He could have had 250 yards but had some tough catches dropped. He should be All-Big Ten. Has great hands, wiggle after the catch and speed. amalone PILE UP Penn State's defense held the Indiana rushing at- tack to just 24 yards. Indiana coach praises Mauti, Penn State on performance CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE TIM OWEN | OWE N . T I M . B WI@G M A I L . C O M In his opening statement of his postgame news conference, Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson rattled off his initial reactions from his team's 45-22 road loss to Penn State. He wasn't happy about giving up a 16-yard touchdown pass with only 31 seconds until halftime, he said. He thought his offense moved the ball well, but failed to capitalize in key sit- uations. There were several times where the Hoosiers drove into Penn State territory, but, he said, "we came away with nothing, or three. I thought in this game, to win it, we needed 35, 40, 42 or 45 and we left some points on the board." Next he gave credit to Bill O'Brien and his team's preparation, and be- fore he started answering questions from reporters he had a final message to add. "One last thing," Wilson said. "I feel for Mike Mauti, too. ... I went to the [Penn State] players and told them that I was sorry that [Mauti] got hurt because that kid plays even the punt team as hard as anyone I have ever seen. So, I just love him as a player. We love going against good players. We feel for them." Wilson added that he not only had a lot of respect for Mauti, the fifth-year linebacker, but also the entire Penn State roster. He said the Nittany Lion defense made things difficult on his quarterback Cameron Coffman, even though the sophomore threw for a ca- reer-high 454 passing yards and two touchdowns. But Penn State stifled the Indiana running game, limiting it to just 24 total yards. "It doesn't really matter how many yards I had passing if we don't win," Coffman said. "I couldn't care less if [the career day] doesn't result in a win. Like Coach said, we're not even close to where we can be. To be hon- est, I didn't even feel like I played very well. We've got a long way to go and we can get a lot better." Wilson added that the lack of a rush- ing attack was too much to overcome. "We don't have a really good running game," he said. "We would like to throw it, but we want some balance. The more balance we have, the better we work. But when you don't run it well and you don't play good defense, it's tough to win. That's the main rea- son we are on the wrong side of the ledger today." N O V E M B E R 1 7 , 2 0 1 2 12 John Beale Congrats McGloin. Penn State single-season passing record. Maybe the haters will ease up. Nitt1300 Hats off to the de- fense for stepping up in the face of ad- versity. They could have fallen apart after losing their leader today, but they managed to keep a pretty good offense in check. Brazillm10 FROM THE WEB ONLINE REACTION TO PsU's LATEsT GAME Ficken has really improved. Looks much more comfortable. The kicking game could be a strength next year. cpn1sgm I was really hoping McGloin could throw one more pass. I know it isn't about records, but he has been a leader this season. Krytter Asleep at the wheel? I realize it was an odd time for an onside kick, but overall we just looked sluggish [coming out of halftime]. WTNuke I hope Michael Mauti's playing days aren't over, but even if they are, he is not done with the game of football. I could see him being a coach. He is already a great leader and motivator. ngdiver QB juco recruit Jake Waters should like what Coach O'Brien's offense has done for this team and for McGloin and Robinson. Jake will have some hot re- ceivers and solid tight ends. He'll also learn a pro-style offense that will make him more valu- able to the NFL. T J B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M
