WHAT HE DID A two-way starter at one of central Pennsylvania's most re- spected high school programs, Katshir helped lead the Eagles to a 32-10 record during his three seasons on the varsity team. During his career, he totaled 1,610 yards receiv- ing and 509 yards rushing, scoring 27 o>ensive touch- downs. Playing safety on defense, he totaled 171 tack- les and 17 interceptions. Katshir scored four special teams or defensive touch- downs over that same span. He was also the team's punter during his senior season, averaging a respectable 39 yards per attempt. WHAT HE WON Katshir was a =rst-team All-State selection at defensive back following his junior and senior seasons. He was also =rst-team All-Conference his junior and senior seasons and sec- ond-team All-Conference his sopho- more season. A three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, he's ranked 43rd nationally at outside linebacker and is the 20th-ranked prospect in Pennsylvania for 2018. WHERE HE VISITED Katshir earned his first offer from Virginia in May 2016. Following an excellent workout at Penn State's Whiteout camp two months later, James Franklin and Brent Pry of- fered immediately. Including that camp, he took four unofficial visits to University Park before committing to the Nittany Lions on Feb. 2, 2017. Notre Dame, Pitt, Rutgers, Virginia and West Virginia all earned visits in the months leading up to his decision. Notre Dame was the only one of those schools that didn't extend an offer, but the Irish likely would have done so had he not committed. QUOTABLE Katshir: "It really is a dream come true to play for Penn State. I can't wait to represent the school and the team." PHIL'S TAKE Katshir was one of four players who committed to Penn State in February 2017, just a few days after the previous class had signed its letters of intent. He was the first of those four to commit, and his was a welcome an- nouncement. He's one of the best pure athletes in Penn State's Class of 2018, having seen action at free safety, inside linebacker, defensive end, wide re- ceiver and running back, while also playing a key role on special teams. In college, he'll most likely play the star outside linebacker spot. I expect him to use a redshirt his freshman year, mainly due to a shoulder injury that has required two surgeries, the most recent of which took place at the end of November. He reminds me of former Penn State great Sean Lee. That's not to say he'll be the second coming of Lee, who is now a star in the NFL. But Lee played a variety of positions in high school before settling in as a line- backer with the Nittany Lions, and Katshir is following a similar career path. ■ MR. VERSATILE After excelling on both sides of the ball at Cum- berland Valley, Katshir will play linebacker at Penn State.
