Cornell receiver considering transfer to PSU RYAN SNYDER | B L U E WH I T E I L L U s T R A T E d The Penn State coaching staff hosted roughly 40 to 50 prospects at Beaver Stadium for the game against Wiscon- sin on Saturday. One prospect who was in attendance was wide receiver Shane Savage, who currently plays at Cornell but hails from Leesburg, Va. A consensus Foot- ball Championship Subdivision third- team All-American, Savage hasn't committed yet, but he is considering a transfer to Penn State. If he were to choose the Nittany Lions, he would enroll in January and have one re- maining year of eligibility. Last year Savage led the Ivy League in receptions (65), receiving yards (1,080) and receiving touchdowns (12), while finishing fifth nationally in yards per game. He also set school records for yards and touchdowns in a season. Another prospect to watch is defen- sive tackle Tom Devenney from War- wick High School in Litiz, Pa. Like Savage, he is also considering com- mitting to Penn State, except the 2013 prospect will walk on with four years of eligibility. Seven verbally committed prospects from Penn State's Class of 2013 also made the trip. Brandon Bell from Mays Landing, N.J., Adam Breneman from Camp Hill, Pa., Christian Hack- enberg from Fork Union, Va., Brendan Mahon from Randolph, N.J., Andrew Nelson from Hershey, Pa., Garrett Sickels from Little Silver, N.J., and Jordan Smith from Washington, D.C., were all present. A few additional Class of 2013 prospects to keep an eye on include athlete Anthony Davis from Saxtons River, Vt., and wide receiver Devin Wilson from McKees Rocks, Pa. Davis has been in steady contact with assistant John Strollo over the past few months, while Wilson, who holds four scholarship offers, is one of the top prospects in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League. There were also a handful of 2014 prospects in attendance, one of who was athlete DeAndre Thompkins from Swansboro, N.C. With seven verbal of- fers already, including North Car- olina, N.C. State, Penn State and Duke, Thompkins made it clear that the Nittany Lion staff has put itself in a great position early on. "I'd say that Penn State is at the top right now," he said. "I really like every- thing up here and I also really respect the coaches. They're not pushing me or anything. They've been real respectful." GAME GALLERY Alex Bars, brother of current sopho- more Penn State defensive end Brad Bars, was in Beaver Stadium Satur- day. The native of Nashville, Tenn., al- ready holds 11 verbal scholarship offers. Additional 2014 prospects included defensive back Troy Vincent Jr. from Baltimore, athlete Thaddius Smith from Philadelphia and offensive line- man James McHale from Dunmore, Pa.
