Irish head coach Randy Waldrum doesn't put any pressure on his play- ers to come to campus early as fresh- men, but he might want to start. Last year, Lauren Bohaboy was one of two early arrival freshmen, and she went on to finish second on the team with six goals. Bohaboy, a sophomore, scored twice in the NCAA Tournament and was once Irish Roundup isville, Ky. The women were led to their best performance since 2005 by a pack of four runners who all crossed the line within one second of each other in 96th through 99th place overall. Junior Martin Grady took 52nd overall and was the top finisher for either Notre Dame team. CROSS COUNTRY The Irish women finished 15th and the men finished 28th at the NCAA Championships Nov. 17 in Lou- first time in 31 years to take over sole possession of first place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Associa- tion. The Irish defense recorded its 11th shutout of the season. The Irish were set to host Indiana in third-round action Nov. 25. MEN'S SOCCER (17-3-1, 5-2-1 BIG EAST) The top-seeded Irish beat Michigan State 3-0 at home in the second round of the NCAA Tournament out of the Big East title hunt. The Irish finished third during regular-season play after a season-finale loss to top-seed Marquette Nov. 11. They were then upset by South Florida, 3-1, in the opening round of the conference tournament Nov. 16. VOLLEYBALL (20-8, 13-2 BIG EAST) Notre Dame lost back-to-back games for the first time since Sept. 8 at the end of November to drop again second in scoring, behind only Thomas. She isn't too far removed from the process of building confidence in her first year of collegiate soccer and said she did her best to try to make the huge batch of new freshmen feel comfortable this season. "Everyone comes in and is ready to compete and play," she said. "I think it's just about being confident and know- ing that it's just soccer when you're out there." ✦
