P E N N S TAT E FO O T BA L L >> S P R I N G P R AC T I C E R E P O RT he experience will be different for Penn State's incoming Class of 2018. There are 23 players in all, forming the nation's No. 5-ranked group according to Rivals.com. Some of them have already arrived for the team's winter workouts and spring practice sessions. The rest will follow in June. All will be joining an un- deniably ascendant Nittany Lion pro- gram. When those players step foot on cam- pus, they will see dozens of teammates walking around the Lasch Building sport- ing Fiesta Bowl gear commemorating the Lions' 35-28 victory over Washington. Old heads like quarter- back Trace McSorley and linebacker Koa Farmer will probably be carrying around their Rose Bowl backpacks. The 2016 Big Ten Championship Game trophy will still be posi- tioned prominently in the lobby. The Nittany Lions are again a proud bunch. During the past two years, they've appeared in back-to-back New Year's Six bowls, won 22 of 27 games and claimed a Big Ten champi- onship. Not since 2008-09 has the program been on that kind of a roll. Before that, you would have to go back to a time that predates the births of the latest batch of recruits to find a group GOLD STANDARD Franklin and Mar- cus Allen cele- brate the NIttany Lions' victory over Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.
