atrick Chambers wanted better value for
his technical. Late in the first half of Penn
State's loss to Purdue in the Big Ten tour-
nament semifinals, the Nittany Lion head coach
was admittedly displeased with an offensive foul
charged to his star point guard, Tony Carr. It was
the second foul of the half that Carr had received,
and the sophomore appeared perplexed at the ap-
parent inconsistency of the officiating. His phys-
ical and aggressive opponent, Purdue point guard
Carsen Edwards, didn't seem to be meriting the
same level of scrutiny.
Chambers was equally confounded, and he let
official Paul Szeic know as much with a simple,
direct message during the change in possession.
"I've earned respect," Chambers told Szeic.
"He's earned respect."
Having warned Chambers twice previously to
stop complaining, Szeic hit the Lions' head
coach with the technical. In Chambers' mind,
