Penn State freshman
scores perfect 10
in quad meet win
Freshman Lauren Bridgens tallied a
perfect 10 on the uneven bars during the
final rotation to help No. 28 Penn State
record a quad meet victory over No. 21
BYU, Texas Woman's University and
Utah State on March 9 at the Smith
Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah.
"Tonight was a really fun night for the
entire team," Bridgens said afterward.
"It was an unbeliev-
able feeling to experi-
ence getting a 10 with
this team, and I could
not be more proud of
the job we did
tonight."
Bridgens took to the
uneven bars in the
fourth spot. After she
landed her routine, she
high-fived her teammates and coaches,
and then, moments later, a pair of 10.0s
were shown. It was the 10th perfect 10
in program history, and the Darnestown,
Md., resident also became the first Nit-
tany Lion to record a perfect 10 on the
uneven bars.
Bridgens is the first Nittany Lion to
tally a perfect 10 since Brandi Personett
in February 2010.
"Lauren has been working so hard on
every event, and tonight was amazing for
her on bars," coach Sarah Brown said. "I
couldn't be more proud of her."
In the all-around standings, Bridgens
posted a score of 39.375 to win her third
all-around title of the season.
