WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS: 15-2-1 OVERALL, 8-1 BIG TEN Michigan honored its four graduating seniors — Brianna Brown, Cailee Hills, Lauren Marinez and Paige Zaziski — fol- lowing its victory over No. 4 Utah March 10 … The Wolverines set a new home women's gymnastics attendance record at Crisler Center by drawing 7,212 fans, breaking the old mark of 5,042 … Junior Emma McLean was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week March 12 after she tied for the win on floor (9.950) against the Utes … The Maize and Blue were tabbed at No. 7 in the March 12 College Gymnastics Associa- tion rankings … U-M won its fourth Big Ten regular-season title in the last six years with a victory at the Big Five Meet on Rutgers' campus March 17. MEN'S LACROSSE: 5-2 OVERALL, 0-0 BIG TEN Attackman Kevin Mack was selected as the Big Ten Fresh- man of the Week March 13 after tallying five points (three goals and two assists) in U-M's 14-9 victory over Air Force March 9 … Michigan's 12-7 triumph against Marquette March 17 improved the team's record to 5-0 in Ann Arbor, good for the best home start in school history. WOMEN'S LACROSSE: 4-5 OVERALL, 1-0 BIG TEN On Feb. 27, midfielder Maggie Kane received Big Ten Fresh- man of the Week recognition after she scored a career-high three goals in U-M's 11-10 loss to No. 10 Navy Feb. 25 … Head coach Hannah Nielsen picked up her first-ever win against rival Ohio State with a 9-7 victory March 17. SOFTBALL: 22-6 OVERALL, 0-0 BIG TEN Michigan posted an impressive 5-0 record at the Judi Gar- man Classic March 1-3 in Fullerton, Calif., with victories over No. 8 Baylor and No. 18 UL Lafayette March 2 … The Maize and Blue followed that up with another 5-0 mark at the FAU Tournament March 9-11 in Boca Raton, Fla. … The USA Today/ NFCA Coaches poll pegged Michigan at No. 19 nationally in its March 12 release … Freshman Meghan Beaubien was named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week March 14 after she posted a 0.93 ERA with 25 strikeouts and a .122 opponent batting average at the FAU Tournament … On March 18, freshman pitcher Sarah Schaefer threw the eighth perfect game in program history in U-M's 14-0 shutout of Robert Morris. MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING U-M finished in second place out of 10 teams at the Big Ten Championships Feb. 21-24 in Minneapolis, racking up 1,617.5 points … On March 7, it was announced that 14 Wolverine swimmers had individually qualified for the NCAA Champi- onships March 21-24 in Minneapolis … Freshman diver Ross Todd also qualified, becoming the first U-M diver in 14 years to do so. MEN'S TENNIS: 11-2 OVERALL, 1-0 BIG TEN A 10-8 third-set tiebreak win by senior Alex Knight helped Michigan pick up an impressive 4-3 win at No. 17 Notre Dame Feb. 23 … U-M followed up the victory over the Irish with a 4-0 shutout at No. 10 Duke March 1 … The March 13 edition of the ITA rankings placed U-M at No. 8 in the country … The Wolverines kicked off conference play with a 7-0 blanking of Michigan State March 16. WOMEN'S TENNIS: 6-8 OVERALL, 2-0 BIG TEN The Maize and Blue opened Big Ten play with consecu- tive victories over Iowa and Nebraska March 16 and 18, respectively … The victory over Iowa was U-M's 17th straight against the Hawkeyes. — Austin Fox the finals of the Big Ten Champion- ships and 3-2 in the title match of the heavyweight division at the NCAA Tournament. Honors: Five Wolverines secured All-America honors — Coon, red- shirt sophomore Stevan Micic (sec- ond at 133 pounds), redshirt junior Alec Pantaleo (fifth at 157 pounds), redshirt sophomore Myles Amine (third at 174 pounds) and fifth- year senior Domenic Abounader (fifth at 184 pounds) … Pantaleo and Micic won titles at the Big Ten Championships. Notable: Michigan's five NCAA semifinalists tied a program record. The Wolverines finished tied for fourth in the country with North Carolina State at the NCAA Cham- pionships to earn a team trophy. The finish was Michigan's highest since 2005. The Wolverines came in third place at the Big Ten Championships. At the conclusion of the season, head coach Joe McFarland announced his retirement after 19 seasons as U-M's lead man. ❏ Fifth-year senior heavyweight Adam Coon finished his final season at Michigan with a 29-2 record and was one of five Wolverine grapplers to earn All-America honors.
