(Notre Dame) Commitments in bold italics * Picked up an offer between April 23 and May 28 RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame will receive an official visit this summer from Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland 2019 Rivals100 cornerback Woodi Washington. The 6-0, 175-pounder told Rivals May 25 he would be taking his first official to South Bend, but a date was not set to that point. Visits to Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida State and Ohio State are also likely. Washington made it to South Bend for the pro- gram's annual Blue-Gold Game April 21, and the four-star came away impressed by what he saw. Irish cornerbacks coach Todd Lyght continues to push hard for the Rivals' No. 6 cornerback and No. 31 overall player. Another strong trip would go a long way for Notre Dame in potentially land- ing Washington. • Thompson's Station (Tenn.) Independence Rivals three-star 2019 wide receiver TJ Sheffield narrowed down his recruitment to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Arkansas and Purdue May 25. Shef- field took in Notre Dame's Jan. 27 Junior Day and left with the Irish already in his top five despite it being his first time visiting. The Irish will need to push and get Sheffield back on campus this summer or fall before a decision. • Notre Dame entered the mix for two 2019 in-state prospects in May, offering Royal Center (Ind.) Pioneer linebacker Jack Kiser and Browns- burg (Ind.) High wide receiver Bryce Kirtz. Both players have been fairly quiet about their recruitments since the Irish made a move, but it is expected that each makes it to South Bend for a visit over the summer. Kiser was at three home games last fall (Temple, Georgia and USC) and also participated in Junior Day March 3, while Kirtz has not been to Notre Dame since 2016. If summer visits occur, the Irish will have an op- portunity to make a strong impression on the in- state talents once again and position themselves for commitments from the Rivals three-stars. • Two Notre Dame commitments in the 2019 class — Atlanta Marist safety Kyle Hamilton and Fort Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic defensive end NaNa Osafo-Mensah — have earned invites so far to Nike Football's The Opening Finals June 30- July 3 in Dallas. Osafo-Mensah was named the Defensive Line MVP at the Dallas Regional. Last year, the Irish had eight 2018 signees in The Opening Finals with defensive tackle Jay- son Ademilola, safety Derrik Allen, wide receiver Kevin Austin, defensive tackle Ja'Mion Franklin, linebacker Jack Lamb, linebacker Ovie Oghoufo, rover Shayne Simon and tight end George Takacs. Austin, Lamb and Simon were uncommitted at the time of the event. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney Cornerback Woodi Washington, the nation's No. 31 overall player in the class of 2019 according to Rivals, is planning to take an offi- cial visit to Notre Dame.
