BRENEMAN FROM PREVIOUS PAGE good listener, a good communicator? Just what are the vibes like throughout the conversation? There were definitely a few funny stories about the team, just about recruiting visits in general. That's all stuff that I won't really get into, but it's always really nice to see the other side of Coach – the side that isn't about football. He's great at getting his points across. He doesn't just tell us things we want to hear; he makes it clear that there will be ups and downs. No one has a perfect football career. He's very easy to talk with, he answers every question you have, and you can tell he's not just coming up with the best answer that we want to hear. He's very easy to talk with, he puts things into perspective real well and makes you very comfortable, as if you've known him for years. I think that's why he has such strong respect from all of his current players. He's just a good guy – the type of guy you want to play for, or from my perspective, the type of guy you want your son to learn from these next four years. Adam's in a unique situation. Not only is he enrolling early, but he'll also be rehabbing an ACL injury. Was there anything specifically that O'Brien stressed to Adam when it comes to what's important these next few months? PROGRESS REPORT CHECKING IN WITH PENN STATE'S CLASS OF 2013 RICHY ANDERSON Thomas Johnson High went 4-6 this season. Stats were not made available. BRANDON BELL Bell missed multiple games due to minor injuries, but he still recorded 99 tackles, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Oakcrest went 1-9. ADAM BRENEMAN The standout tight end missed his senior season due to a torn ACL. He will enroll at Penn State in January. Cedar Cliff finished 5-6, losing to Penn Manor, 43-10, in the first round of the Pennsylvania District III Class AAA playoffs. CURTIS COTHRAN Cothran recorded just under 40 tackles and eight sacks. Council Rock North finished 5-5. TYLER FERGUSON The quarterback threw for 2,614 yards, 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for College of the Sequoias. The team finished 4-6. KASEY GAINES The defensive back helped lead Grayson to a 10-2 record. But the team was upset by North Gwinnett, 28-10, in the second round of the Georgia AAAAAA playoffs. Gaines' stats were not made available. At one point, Grayson was rated one of the top 10 teams in the nation by Rivals.com. CHRISTIAN HACKENBERG The quarterback completed 53.6 percent of his passes, with 24 TDs and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 436 yards and three TDs. Fork Union finished 10-3, losing to Tanner Hartman's Liberty Christian team in the league championship. DEASEAN HAMILTON The receiver had 67 catches for 1,068 We talked about Adam's transition specifically, how that's not going to be easy for anyone his age, leaving high school in December and then all of a sudden taking on a full course of college courses just two weeks later. From a football perspective, although Adam is rehabbing, that's not really the concern Coach O'Brien has. He just wants to make sure that Adam is ready to handle all of the other stuff. The biggest challenge for all of these guys is taking on a full load of college courses right off the bat. It's a bit different when you have summer to transition a bit, but Adam will be in high school right before Christmas. Then on Jan. 7 he'll be taking a full course of college classes, so [O'Brien] was saying that over the next semes- yards and 11 touchdowns. He finished his career with 190 receptions for more than 2,800 yards. Mountain View finished 8-6, losing to North Stafford, 49-12, in the third round of the Virginia section 5 playoffs. TANNER HARTMAN Hartman led Liberty Christian to a 10-1 record. He and his teammates won the league championship with a 35-14 victory over Fork Union. ZAYD ISSAH Despite a few minor injuries, Issah had 80 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Central Dauphin finished 10-3, losing to Harrisburg, 27-21, in the Pennsylvania Class AAAA District III semifinals. BRENDAN MAHON Mahon led Randolph to a 7-4 season. The Rams lost, 26-14, to Bloomfield in the first round of the New Jersey North 1 Group 5 playoffs. ANDREW NELSON The lineman led Hershey to a 6-4 record. The Trojans were eliminated in the first round of the Pennsylvania District III Class AAA playoffs, falling to Lancaster Catholic, 32-14. NEIKO ROBINSON After returning from a four-game suspension to start the season, Robinson had 95 tackles, seven interceptions and two tackles for loss in Northview's final 10 games. The team won the Florida Class 1A title with a 42-21 victory over Trenton. GARRETT SICKELS Red Bank Regional finished 4-6. Stats were not made available. ANTHONY SMITH Valley Forge finished 1-6. Stats were not made available. JORDAN SMITH Smith was ruled ineligible after transferring to H.D. Woodson last winter. The team finished 55 without Smith. JONATHAN WALTON The linebacker led Bayside Academy to a 7-5 record. The team lost to Leeds, 22-21, in the second round of the Alabama 3A state playoffs. Stats were not made available. - R.S.
