football recruiting ends up at Michigan. Any four-star player who commits to Michigan will be taking the place (in the team rankings formula) of a three-star commit, and the Wolverines have a few they are pursuing. Corona (Calif.) Centennial offensive lineman Cameron Hunt will visit Michigan in January, and other fourstar linemen such as UCLA commit Kenny Lacy from Phoenix Mountain Pointe and Pomfret (Md.) McDonogh guard Na'Ty Rodgers are also on the table. The Meaning Although the Rivals.com team rankings "championship" is not a goal in itself, it is yet an indication of an excellent overall recruiting effort — and a strong program. Of the BCS national champions since 2002, every single team had at least one topfive recruiting class in the four years prior to winning it all, and all but one (Auburn in 2010) had multiple such classes that included at least one topranked effort. It's no surprise that Alabama's dominance on the gridiron has coincided with dominance on the recruiting trail, too. If Brady Hoke and his coaching staff want to bring Michigan back to the top of the college football world — and there's no question that's one of their goals — bringing in top prep talent is a major requirement. With the way they have recruited thus far, it's safe to say they're on the right track. ❑ U-M's Team Recruiting Finishes From 2002-12 Year 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 Total Ranking Commitments 16 22 17 17 5 22 6 23 13 19 12 20 10 24 8 22 20 27 21 20 7 25  On The Web For regular reports on Michigan football recruiting plus videos of U-M commitments and targets visit TheWolverine.com. Shifting Rankings When Rivals.com re-ranked prospects following the completion of the 2012 regular season, a number of Michigan commits moved up or down in the ratings. Here is a look at who rose, who fell and how many team recruiting points — based on star value and overall ranking among the country's top 250 prospects — Michigan gained or lost.
