Penn State will have 11 matches against preseason Top 25 opponents. Two of those matches will take place in the nonconference season, as the Lions are set to face Stanford and Oregon in September at the Big Ten/Pac-12 Chal- lenge at Palo Alto, Calif. The Ducks are 18th in the preseason rankings. The Nittany Lions have now been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 427 poll releases, dating back to the 1988 end- of-season poll. Penn State opens the season at home Aug. 24 against Eastern Kentucky in the 8rst match of the Penn State Classic. W. GYM TO HOST BIG TENS Rec Hall will play host to the 2019 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships on Satur- day, March 23. This marks the 8:h time Penn State has hosted the event, with the Nittany Lions 8nishing as the run- ners-up on three occasions in their home venue. Rec Hall also served as the host site for the event in 1994, 2000, 2007 and 2014. "We are thrilled to be hosting the 2019 Big Ten Championships," coach Sarah Brown said. "Our sta9 at Rec Hall does a great job running our competitions and I know this will be no exception. Our program, especially our seniors, are so excited for another opportunity to com- pete in Rec Hall during the 2019 season. We are honored to have the other teams from across the conference in Happy Valley once again." Ten teams will compete for the Big Ten crown, with the championship broken into two sessions. An a:ernoon session and an evening session will have the teams broken up, as four teams will par- ticipate in session one and six teams will compete in session two. The Nittany Lions placed No. 12 in the 8nal 2017-18 Directors' Cup rankings, 8nishing in the top 15 for the eighth time in the past nine years. Penn State remains one of only nine programs nation- wide to have 8nished in the top 25 in all 25 Directors' Cup 8nal standings. Stanford won the Directors' Cup with 1,442 points and was fol- lowed by UCLA (1,326), Florida (1,216), USC (1,147), Texas (1,143.25) and Michigan (1,131). ■
